Did you know that in our region, biking, walking or using transit instead of driving alone is the most significant way to lower CO2 emissions and curb global climate change?
The Bicycle Commuter Contest (“BCC”) is a month-long event that encourages people to choose bicycling as a means of transportation. Anyone who lives or works in Thurston County can participate. In the Bicycle Commuter Contest, everyone wins! Everyone who turns in a completed mileage log receives a packet of valuable coupons and is eligible to win fabulous prizes (including a bike!) in random drawings. You can also win prizes for going the extra mile or riding the most often. Thanks to the generous support of volunteers, business sponsors, and contest participants, the Bicycle Commuter Contest celebrates its 23rd year. We hope after a month of bicycle commuting, you will continue to ride your bike to work, school or on errands throughout the year!
Join the Earth Day Market Ride April 17! It’s a great way to start your cycling season and get in gear for the Bicycle Commuter Contest. Meet cycling friends old and new, discover a new route, have some fun and count your miles toward your BCC total! Cyclists meet at designated spots in area neighborhoods and converge at the Heritage Park Fountain. After some announcements, we proceed to the Farmers Market where we’ll have a table to register you for the BCC!

www.bccblog.com If there is an experienced cyclist in your association that might be interested in leading a group of cyclists from your neighborhood to the Heritage Park Fountain to join a larger group for the last leg to the Farmer’s Market, please have them contact me. Otherwise, if you could let your membership know about these upcoming events and where to find out about them (above internet addresses), that would be super-fantastic!
